The Gospel
The easiest way to explain the gospel, using your hands, even a kid could understand this.
We have ten fingers, each representing a commandment. Five on each hand. Each hand representing one of the stone tablets the finger of God wrote His Law on.
Each finger is broken up into multiple segments… as we have all broken each commandment multiple times. The bones in our hands represent the stony tablets.
Each finger has a covering, a fingernail. A “covering” in the Old Testament is “atonement”. It’s a picture story right at your fingertips of the law, and how it can’t change anyone. Your fingers are covered, but still hard. The sacrifices under the law covered our sin, but could never remove it.
Then we look inward. The lungs are also shaped as two tablets, however, they represent the fleshly tablets of the heart that God promised through faith in the atoning sacrifice of Jesus for our sins.
...Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures...
- 1 Corinthians 15:3-4
There are only two of them, as opposed to ten, representing the two greatest commandments:
Matthew 22:37-39 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
Have you ever seen a picture of human lungs? They hang from a structure that looks like a tree with roots growing deep!
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”
- Galatians 3:13
Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him.
-Colossians 2:7
The Human Body is a testament to Christ and what He has accomplished!
Thank you Jesus for what you have done on our behalf!
